Mission Savvy's walls are filling up!
I put out a call to local artists and they have stepped forward displaying pieces at M. Savvy's downtown boutique. Carla Taylor uses mixed mediums on hardwood scraps. Her color applications are vibrant and cheerful. The use of foods and slogans like "Fresh Fruit" are a perfect compliment to the Eats of Eden corner where you can find organic, raw foods and snacks.
Newman Jackson's studio is a frequent stop on Downtown Art Walk's list of galleries so most of you locals know his pieces well. I'm lucky to display this Medusa like illustration that occupyies one entire wall in our boutique just above the Toggery and Feral Childe clothing collections.
And also showcasing his work is Indra Riswanto, chef and owner of Riswantos - Personal Chef and Catering. Nothing suites M. Savvy better than whales, puffins and frogs.
Come see these goodies for yourself at 200 Hale St.!

Mission Savvy garments have already been shipped out for model fittings and preparation for Fashion Week Nashville! Fingers crossed FedEx handles those goods with care and no one takes off with some valuable eco fashions along the way.
I will be joining the organizing team next week before the show and with me I will have precious commodities in my luggage from The Andean Collection.
I recently met (virtually, as it typically happens these days) jewelry designer, visionary and philanthropist Amanda Judge.
Amanda traveled to Ecuador to work on her master's thesis on rural woman's survival strategies in face of extreme poverty, and left in typical entrepreneur spirit with an idea to create a project that was supportive of the already existing culture and financial sustainable for women in the area.
The Andean Collection features necklaces, earrings and bracelets all made from various seeds indigenous to the area in Ecuador.
"The commercialization of these seeds helps to ensure the survival of the world’s rainforests by providing an alternative income for its inhabitants rather than logging or selling their land to destructive industries. Through a very manual process, seeds are transformed into beads with gorgeous natural irregularities, both in color and form, which truly makes each piece one of a kind."
Five unique pieces will be featured at Fashion Week Nashville, the beginning of a relationship between Mission Savvy eco fashions and these unique masterpieces from the heart of Amanda Judge.

This week I talk about building your personal network of alliances, friendships, relationships any and all interactions that you have with people that support your growth and potential to be who it is you want to be.
We are all great at accommodating others and being available for the needs of others, even when it is not in our best interest. Be aware of your time management and emotional commitment to people in your lives while being conscious of putting effort into nurturing relationships that are going to be supportive of YOU.
Today, begin to filter through the relationships that you have and begin to put yourself first. With this will come confidence, happiness and success.
Happy Friday everyone!!! Start building those networks!

 From the Sunday Gazette:
Somewhat to her surprise, Jennifer Miller has a growing clientele in Charleston for her eco-friendly line of fashion.
That's one reason she opened a retail store downtown, at the corner of Quarrier and Hale streets.
On Sept. 1, she'll move around the corner to 202 Hale St. into the space that has been a framing store. Miller said the store will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
"Someone has to start," said Miller, if the downtown is going to be alive after 5 p.m.
The 30-year-old animal behaviorist recently returned to her hometown to launch Mission Savvy, a new venture to use fashion as a way to educate the public about protecting both the environment and animals.
In the spring, Miller showed her clothing line in several shows locally as well as in larger cities. As a one-person operation, the effort into organizing shows and the travel required became overwhelming, she said.
Although she planned to be headquartered in Charleston, "I wasn't anticipating the clientele base in Charleston. It's a growing base. I needed to be able to interact with them and to be accessible," Miller said.
And she pointed out that the store isn't just about fashion. She is putting up a small exhibit showing the environmental damage caused by the conventional process of producing clothes compared to the eco-friendly version.
"I want people to feel and see -- that the dress on the rack is made from outer bark like this in the can on the display table," she said.
This fall, Miller hopes to bring in others to showcase their ecological clothing, shoes, jewelry and food products in the store.

I met David yesterday, at least officially for the first time yesterday. Charleston is a small town so you tend to see people 10 times before you actually get to meet them sometimes! We had a great conversation as I was closing shop for the evening and this morning David delivered this peom to me; a personal reflection on our mission and our priveledge to exist on this earth among all living creatures. This is why I love having a location downtown where I can meet and talk to new people about Mission Savvy!
God's creatures, one and all
Each and every one, large or small
Whether cat or owl, dog or bear
The earth, its climes, each and every space we share
And in this space there be people upon this globe of ours
With hearts as large as heaven's eternal hours
That care and wish, and do diligently work and pray
For all God's creatures...whose silent voice has no say
Therein, thereof, thereupon this place called Earth
To love, and hope, their right too since birth
To live and learn, even laugh as they do
Whether in their forests' green, paved streets gray, or our skies deep blue
Thus, to and for men and women who care
Upon this our planet, our animal friends do better fare
Therefore, for those who care and more, a "thank you" is offered from heart to heart
From and for each and every animal creature, their lives and ours never ever far apart
This Earth, this city, our portion of heaven
Blessed shall they and we be,
For in animal eyes, that of God we see
